I confess I had visited Paris over a dozen times before heading to actually see the Triumphal arch, so don’t do that, if in Paris go, as this is one of the world’s best-known commemorative monuments. … Napoleon commissioned the triumphal arch in 1806—after his great victory at the Battle of Austerlitz (1805)—to celebrate the military achievements of the French armies.
Standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is the largest triumphal arch in the world, twice the size of the Arch of Constantine in Rome on which it’s modeled. The four pillars are each adorned with beautiful series of sculptures. But forget about the history for now, lets go and see this amazing view of Paris. Of course we all head to the top of Eiffel tower but we forget this monument has a magnificent view as well. Which I discovered and really enjoyed.
