This is a very historic place for lovers of literature, a place to visit if you want to step in Hemingway’s shoes, when your love of French cuisine, literature and history cross paths, it’s bound to be a great. along with literary expats like Miller and Fitzgerald used to hang out here in the roaring twenties, which only adds to the charm.
It was Hemingway’s “home cafe,” where he worked on The Sun Also Rises and where F Scott Fitzgerald read him an early draft of The Great Gatsby.
Like other Left Bank institutions (namely Les Deux Magots and Le Café de Flore) the La Closerie des Lilas was where the intelligentsia hung so worth a visit.
Our highlight here was the Foie gras, absolutely superb as was, very delicious Crêpes Suzette and profiteroles.
